Got to go to Germany for Christmas 2019 to see my new grandson who was 6 months old by the time this American Oma showed up.
Met the little one with his two older sisters and parents at the Frankfurt airport. Took us about 2 to 3 hours to get to the little village they lived in. Yes, cobble stone roads where the norm within the small village streets. Very tight, most cars weren’t the big cars like in the USA. The houses were more like cottage looking on the outside, but tight inside. There were stairs that turned like a corkscrew.
It only snowed the second day I was there
Yes, that is SOLAR PANALS on the roofs of the houses. Can’t really explain the heating system but it was very warm and toadsty indoors.
Got to sample some of this (I don’t drink but had to see what all the fuss was about!
of course the Christmas festivals were a must to see. Actually went to about 5 different local ones. A lot of walking.
I hope to go back someday, but this time while it is warmer. It was cold!!!
